Particle sizes for the recorded sample and sampling time.
Sample assessment
The sample is alumina powder, but the earlier roller and later XQM trials use different contact-media descriptions and charge conditions. The recorded planetary stage is identifiable and accepted. Clarifying the ball-material abbreviation and the source D50/mesh objective is necessary before turning this observation into a detailed operating specification.
Recorded objective
The source describes its objective as D50 to 500 mesh and explicitly marks the planetary result as accepted. The mesh wording is retained without conversion to a particle diameter.
Equipment and selection
The source identifies XQM family. The related TENCAN product association is Vertical square planetary ball mill. This identifies the recorded equipment family, rather than an independently verified serial-number configuration. Jar contact materials and charge details below are test observations; an unspecified steel grade or ball-percentage basis is not supplied by the association.
Test setup
| Recorded setup | XQM planetary family identified in the procedure; 1 L corundum jar and recorded aluminum balls, standard charge; 413 g powder; dry milling at setting 450. The equipment heading QM-5 belongs to the earlier roller stage. |
|---|---|
| Speed notation | Values are retained as recorded speed settings. The source does not identify the revolution/rotation reference; no separate jar speed is inferred. |
Recorded procedure and results
The initial roller trial used a 500 mL corundum roller jar, zirconia balls and 413 g alumina at setting 350. After three hours there was no change. A 1 L corundum roller jar with 900 g zirconia balls was then used, with another 216 g material added. Its three-hour sample gave D50 = 223.77 µm and D90 = 324.19 µm. The subsequent XQM planetary trial used a 1 L corundum jar and recorded aluminum balls with 413 g material at setting 450. At one hour the sample gave D50 = 17.04 µm and D90 = 53.58 µm, and the result field states that the planetary trial met the requirement.
Interpretation
The accepted outcome is attributable to the recorded XQM stage. Its measured D50 and D90 are stated directly, without treating a percentile as evidence of sieve passage. The source combines a D50 objective with mesh terminology; explicit trial acceptance can be reported, while an exact mesh-to-diameter specification requires clarification. Charge, contact media and machine motion differed from the earlier roller trial, so their individual contributions cannot be isolated.
Practical precautions
Confirm whether the recorded aluminum balls mean metallic aluminum or a locally abbreviated alumina-media designation before reproduction. Preserve that uncertainty in any setup instruction. Define the acceptance method explicitly and record representative size analysis and powder recovery.
TENCAN alternatives to evaluate
TENCAN Laboratory Full-Directional Planetary Ball Mill: Evaluate the QXQM family only after resolving ball material and defining the alumina acceptance method. Keep the 413 g charge and one-hour checkpoint comparable, and measure the distribution directly instead of inferring sieve passage from D50. This is a recommendation for a new comparison, not an observed result of this trial.
Endpoint context: Accepted XQM stage at one hour: D50 = 17.04 µm; D90 = 53.58 µm.
Tested equipment association only: XQM family; exact machine variant not inferred. Alternative products are evaluation candidates in the body only.
